Why not: Village-scale buildings that honor our history and create a sense of place?
(Location: Canton Street at Woodstock Road - Historic District)
Why not: Broad, tree-lined sidewalks or courtyard entrances from the street?
(Location: Crabapple Road near Woodstock Road)
Why not: Build the traditional Roswell way - working with the land and saving the trees?
(Location: The Great Wall at Coleman Road and Rt. 120)

ZONING
At the time the UDC was passed, there was a need to clean-up the old code – it was 700+ pages and had grown over the years through annexation and changing times. Today our zoning code may be streamlined, but it is not enough Roswell. Residents were told that the UDC “would not change your neighborhood”. But the yellow signs proved this was not true. And progress has been made since the 2015 election correcting some of the excesses, especially for our residential neighborhoods. But there is more work to do, particularly as the UDC does not have the necessary protections for the Historic District. Let’s recognize the positive and work to amend the negatives of the code. We can come together, work together, and get the job done for the benefit of all of Roswell.

Traffic-Traffic-Traffic
Residents of Roswell – East – West – North – South – we all agree: traffic is everywhere and getting worse. It takes longer to get the kids to school. You leave earlier and earlier for work. You time your driving trips to the grocery store, pharmacy and dry cleaners.

Growth is good and necessary, but thought should be given to the effect on traffic and infrastructure. If our main traffic arteries moved at a more continuous pace, it would lessen traffic volume on our secondary roads. Georgia DOT controls the main arteries, but having worked collaboratively with the state in my prior service, I believe we can benefit by sharing ideas with other jurisdictions who are implementing innovative and cost-effective traffic solutions.

Traffic calming solutions should be neighborhood-based, because while the problem is “traffic”, each part of Roswell is unique. This uniqueness is our strength when we come together.

It’s Your Money
Transparency. Accountability. These should be the watchwords in the budgeting process with clear and measurable objectives that help both the city and our strategic partners serve the interests of our citizens in the most effective way. It’s your money, something we in government should never forget.

Transparency. Accountability. These should be the watchwords at all levels of city government. It is not acceptable to be promised one thing by developers in the public process, then find out a significantly different project is being built. It is not acceptable to pass City Council term limits one year, and find out the next year that the resolution has not been filed.
